So when we got to see ALL the videos on a real movie screen, our groups were all hyped up! After that, the groups got to get the awards. At Cine' there was a popcorn bar that had M&M's, Skittles, Gummy Bears, etc. When that specific date came, both groups almost died of excitement. Oh no, we had to wait until the real winners were announced on March 29 at Cine'. ![]() We were successful but we weren't finished yet. Our groups worked SO hard to finish them and get them in on time. ![]() I forgot to mention there was another group of kids. We can’t wait till next year!Īs I have said in a different blog, kids entered the Ripple Effect Film Contest. This film competition was very exhilarating and a very fun process. While they were tallying up the votes, we were shown a twenty minute film about the Colorado river. After that, we voted for the audience choice. Next, move into the theatre and watched the entries. Then, we walked a blue carpet into a room filled with blue decorations, a popcorn bar, a place to have your photo taken (with props), and a place to relax before the showing. Gift bags were given to the filmmakers at the entrance, plus a VIP pass. Our other group who won best overall, was an all girls group who created a cartoon about chipmunks learning to conserve because of a dream. The group that won audience choice was a boys group at our school who created a foreign movie about a water superhero teaching two boys how to have fun while saving water. We were fortunate enough for both of our groups to win an award. We had two groups at our school who entered this film competition. The awards given were audience choice, best conservation message, and best overall. There was a blue carpet film premiere at Cine and awards were given to three movies. Contestants had to make a one to two minute film. This film contest persuades citizens of Athens, GA to conserve and protect our most precious resource. We recently entered a video contest about water conservation called the Ripple Effect film contest.
